Praying when the words run out
There are seasons when prayer feels less like conversation and more like standing in a quiet room. Nothing arrives. The words that once came easily now feel borrowed or hollow.
Scripture does not treat that silence as failure. The Psalms are full of people who begin with complaint, confusion, or plain exhaustion, and the honesty is never edited out.
A simple practice: read one short psalm slowly, then say back the single line that stayed with you. That line can be the whole prayer. You are not required to produce eloquence to be heard.
If the silence continues, let it. Presence is still prayer, and returning tomorrow is still faithfulness.
